WHY I TRAVEL

Each year I try to travel to a new destination and I write about the experience that I had there. Within each holiday there are individual episodes that cover that particular day's events. Each travel/holiday story is written in a linear episodic format. Some of my travel blogs carry a overarching theme to help encapsulate a particular look and feel I have in mind for the written work.

Fairly warned, all of these travel blogs are completely self indulgent and not intended for a widespread audience. The length of my travel blogs is extensive, almost novel length in size. I suppose this is due to  my wish to preserve the memory of my overseas travel in great detail. Most of the blogs do not have a lot of personal photographs included, though for the ones that do I've indicated in the blog descriptions below.

The following are my completed travel reports. I hope you enjoy them.

TRAVEL REPORTS

2010 - Kuala Lumpur

Sister-Kind This was my first overseas trip.I travelled there with a gaming buddy named Jeff and for a week we went shopping and had fun being in a different place. (Some pictures included)

2011 - Kuala Lumpur

Seven Stars This was my second overseas trip. Jeff and I loved Kuala Lumpur so much so we decided to go back there and take our friends with us. We gathered seven people, Nathan from work plus we asked gamer's from our clan - Drunkards in Combat, together, gathered with partners, we embarked on a week long adventure around KL. (No pictures, just text)

2012 - Singapore

Retarded Castles Nathan and I booked a week off in June. Nathan was on the verge of becoming a team leader and before going into it headlong we decided that we'd get over to Singapore for the great shopping sale. (No pictures)

2012 - Hong Kong

Famous Friends In November 2012 I followed James and his wife Solly over to Hong Kong. They brought along another couple, Linda and Chung. Together we became the most Famous Friends.
(No pictures just text)

2013 - Vietnam

Fast Bits We spent 13 days overseas, 10 in Vietnam and 3 in KL. We traveled as a group consisting of people from our gaming clan. I also asked Nathan to come. Our Vietnam experience was fast and our memories bit pieced together. (some pictures)

2014 - Bangkok

Miss Nana 14 I went into Bangkok for a week with no plans and no expectations. What I got was more than what I was expecting. (some pictures included)

2015 - Bangkok

Desperately Seeking Suzy I went back to Bangkok for ten days with a mate who'd never been out of the country. We had plans, a full itinerary, with room for me to go play with Suzy. Sometimes we don't always get what we want and instead we get what we actually need. This blog seeks to explain that, Looking for Miss Right, or playing with Miss Right Now, Suzy. (some pictures included)

.2016 - Pattaya / Bangkok

Palaces in January I went to Pattaya for the first time and then went back to Bangkok. It was my first solo trip anyway overseas. I was away for seven days over the Australia day long weekend.Palaces is supported by a companion piece called Palisades which covers the pre-holiday jitters at home. So essentially it's a two part piece. It's filled with surrealism and the back story absolutely has a bearing on the actual events that unfolded within the holiday itself. (some pictures included)

2016 - Pattaya / Bangkok

Live From Helvetica In March I went back to Pattaya and then on to Bangkok for ten days. I met up with another bloke I'd met from the travel forum and we hung out together almost every night. I had a great time, it was even more daring than my January adventure and it's one I'll never forget.
In this travel report I mix surreal fictive elements to create a back story. It's a writing excercise and I'm not certain it worked but it was a lot of fun to write. (some pictures included)

2016 - Bangkok / Pattaya

The Underneath In July I went back to Thailand. I went to Bangkok first and I went on to Pattaya. I met up with a mate from the travel forum. It was the height of low season and it was all good. I also incorporated a lot of fictive elements in this holiday blog. So much so it exists as a separate reality timeline taking place alongside the holiday blog itself. This was a fun project to write. (some pictures included)

2016 - Bangkok / Hue / Hoi An / Phnom Penh / Siem Reap / Pattaya / Bangkok

Cardboard Cities is my November - December journey to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. I was away for 26 days. I went overseas with the Drunkards crew. Koota. Jeff, Smidy and we met uo with Achy in Cambodia. After Cambodia I would leave the lads and travel to Pattaya and finally Bangkok to wrap up my holiday adventure. (some pictures included)

2017- Pattaya / Phnom Penh /  Pattaya / Bangkok

The Psultan of Low Tide  in July I went back to Thailand for 22 days. I went to Pattaya for dental treatment. I deliberately chose low season based on the time I had the previous year. It was a fully independent holiday journey. People coexist in my orbit but there I was truly solo.

2017- Pattaya / Bangkok

The Bon Bon Lifestyle  is my November - December journey to  Pattaya and finally Bangkok to wrap up my holiday adventure. I was there for 17 days. A little over a week in Pattaya and a week in Bangkok.

2018 - Pattaya / Bangkok

Lost Boys  is my June journey to  Pattaya and finally Bangkok.  adventure. I was there for 17 days.13 nights in Pattaya and 4 nights in Bangkok.

2018 - Pattaya / Bangkok

Antarctica Starts Here  is my November - December journey to  Pattaya and finally Bangkok to wrap up my holiday adventure. I was there for 17 days. Almost two weeks in Pattaya and just 2 nights in Bangkok.

2019 - Bangkok / Chiang Mai / Bangkok / Vientiane / Phnom Penh / Siem Reap Pattaya / Bangkok

In The Year of The Black Jelly Bean is my June July journey into the Golden Triangle.
I actually kinda knew that my time at work was ending as 2018 drew to a close. So I planned for a 4 week holiday that was going to be the last holiday for the foreseeable future.
I went to a lot of new places and revisited old friends and made new ones.
I was away 30 days. It was incredible I know the next holiday may be a year or two away but at least this one was a good one for the memory bank.

2020 -  Pattaya / Bangkok

Go To The Sugar Altar is my February trip report. I only went to Pattaya and Bangkok.
I was still not working but I needed urgent dental work so the decision to go was more to change my mindset and to bounce back with a refreshed attitude towards jump starting my career.
I hung out with punters I'd met across previous trips and had a nice relaxing time without stress.
It was a nice 18 day departure from the last 7 - 8 months of stress and job searching.

2021 -  Pattaya

Super Oceans is my daily blog while I was travelling during Covid 19. The blog is recorded between February and July of 2021. For this trip report I only went to Pattaya.
I was working at Perth Airport as a Marshalling Officer for WA Health Dept but I needed urgent dental work. The decision to go was driven by that and also me being unhappy and horny and unable to face my responsibilities of retraining for a new career as an Assistant in Nursing.
I hung out with Patrick & punters I'd met across previous trips and had a nice relaxing time without stress. It was a nice an incredile 5 month journey that feels almost like two halves of a story. The first being pre-lockdown of Thailand and the second half is the lockdown period. Each lasting 2.5 months.

2022 -  Pattaya / Phnom Penh / Bangkok / Angeles City / Pattaya

Boy Of Air is my daily blog while I was travelling during 2022.
The blog was recorded between September and October of 2022. It follows a day by day account of what i did there within 24 hour timeframes.
Prior to going I was working within healthcare, working at Covid screening tents surrounding Perth Airport. After coming home in July 2021 I studied for 5 months receiving a qualification as a AIN.  Assistant in Nursing. The Covid 19 screening role paid more so I did that from November 1st 2021 through to 31st of August 2022.
Naturally I hung out with Patrick & punters I'd met across previous trips. I met some new people too. Made and lost friends along the way. I saved for a long time just to discover all of the places punters venture for P4P action and just to see for myself if it was still available.
